Body Lift Kit Fitting Guide

The following guide is based on the fitting of our own bloodredoffroad.com 2" body lift kits, it may help if fitting other makes of kit but there could be differences in certain parts.

Undo but do not remove the 10 body mounting bolts, these are located in pairs at the front cross member under the grill, in the front foot wells, behind the front seats, next to the rear wheel arch and under the rear of the car. The front and rear are into captive mounts at the top of each bolt and these will be replaced with the gold coloured bolts in the kit, the longer silver bolts replace those inside the car, the existing sleeve bolts will need to be retained and have the original captive nut removed if fitting the basic kit, this is then replaced with the nyloc nuts supplied. If fitting the deluxe kit the sleeve bolts are replaced with those supplied in the kit.

You may also need to slacken the bolts that hold the steering column into the universal joints at the steering box and pop the front brake lines out of the clip that locates them onto the inner wing so that the lift can be made without spraining them.

Remove the 5 bolts from the body mounts on the passenger side of the car, the rearmost mount is a threaded bar with a nut on and can be removed from the body by running a second nut up tight against the first and then turning them both together to remove the bar, this will be replaced by one of the gold coloured bolts which are the correct length to accommodate the spacer.
Jack up the body on the passenger side just enough to slip the spacers under the body on top of the rubber body mounts on the chassis. When the spacers are in place loosely fit the mounting bolts but don’t tighten. Repeat the steps on the drivers side.

When all the spacers and fittings are in place tighten them all up. Remember to check that the steering column is re-tightened!!

You will need to trim the bottom of the radiator shroud to stop the fan from catching as the shroud and radiator are now lifted in relation to the fan. Check all hoses and wiring to make sure they are still attached properly including the fuel filler hose. We have had no problems with this size of lift affecting any of the hoses on those we have fitted but it is always wise to check before running for any distance.

On the Fourtrak manual transfer case with the dog leg shift pattern you may find that the transfer lever fouls the transmission tunnel in low range, this can be fixed by slipping a length of bar over the lever and bending it slightly forward, check that the main lever doesn’t catch the transfer lever when reverse is engaged, this shouldn‘t be an issue on the Fourtrak solenoid operated case or the Sportrak case as the shift pattern should still be within the transmission tunnel opening.
